Ukraine says it struck key Russian Baltic fleet base at Kronstadt
Ukraine's military said it had successfully struck the Russian naval base at Kronstadt in the Leningrad region, describing it as one of the main bases of Russia's Baltic Fleet.
In a statement, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said the attack was carried out alongside a separate strike on an oil terminal at the Port of St. Petersburg during overnight operations, Caliber.Az reports.
According to the Ukrainian military, the strike on Kronstadt resulted in a direct hit on the facility, followed by a fire within the port area.
"A strike was also carried out on the Kronstadt base in the Leningrad Region of the Russian Federation. A direct hit on the facility was recorded, followed by a fire within the port area. The extent of the damage is being assessed," the General Staff said.
