Ukraine says it struck Lukoil refinery, oil pumping station in Russia
Ukraine’s General Staff has confirmed strikes on an oil refinery in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod region and an oil pumping station in the Yaroslavl region, damaging Lukoil Refinery and Oil Pumping Station.
It said in a statement on May 18, 2026, units of the Defence Forces of Ukraine targeted the Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez oil refinery in Kstovo (Nizhny Novgorod region, Russian Federation) after which a fire was recorded at the facility, Caliber.Az reports.
The extent of the damage is being clarified.
The Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez refinery is one of the largest oil refining enterprises in the Russian Federation.
Its processing capacity is about 17 million tons of oil per year.
“The plant produces gasoline, diesel, and aviation fuel used to supply Russian forces. Also on May 19, the Yaroslavl-3 oil pumping station near the settlement of Semibratovo in the Yaroslavl region was hit. The extent of the damage is being clarified,” the statement noted.
