Ukraine sees ceasefire possible only if key conditions align, intelligence chief says
Russia may be economically weak but remains a strong military power, and a ceasefire in Ukraine is possible only if multiple conditions align simultaneously, Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence chief, Kyrylo Budanov, said in an interview with Il Foglio.
Budanov emphasised that for a ceasefire to occur, factors must converge within Ukraine, Russia, and allied countries that influence global decisions, Caliber.Az reports per Ukrainian media.
“Only the precise combination of these elements at the planned moment will produce a result. Otherwise, the war will continue,” he added.
Budanov avoided questions on US President Donald Trump’s position on ending the war but noted the global significance of Russia and China.
“Russia is nothing economically, but it has military strength. China is both, an economic and a military power," he said.
