Ukraine, Sweden strengthen maritime security cooperation PHOTO
During the Swedish Coast Guard delegation’s visit to Ukraine, meetings were held in Kyiv and Odesa, culminating in the signing of a Memorandum on further cooperation between the two agencies, according to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (SBGS).
The ceremony included Acting Head of the SBGS Major General Valeriy Vavrynyuk and Swedish Coast Guard Director General Lena Lindgren Schelin, Caliber.Az reports.
Officials discussed SBGS operations amid the conflict with Russia, agency needs, international assistance, and plans for joint training and experience exchange in 2026.
In Odesa, the Swedish delegation met with Regional Maritime Guard Chief Counter Admiral Oleh Kostur to review Maritime Guard reforms, fleet modernisation, and adoption of European standards.
