Ukraine to receive 16 Gripen E fighter jets from Sweden

Ukraine and Sweden have reached an agreement on the acquisition of 16 fourth-generation Gripen E fighter jets produced by Saab, which are expected to be delivered to Kyiv at the beginning of 2027, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

Writing on Telegram, Zelenskyy added that, alongside the aircraft, Ukraine will receive a package of equipment, technical assistance, and support services.

According to the Ukrainian leader, he discussed the implementation of the fighter jet deal and broader bilateral defence cooperation during a meeting with Swedish Defence Minister Pål Jonson.

The talks also covered preparations for a Drone Deal initiative and ongoing cooperation on missile defence systems, Zelenskyy noted.
