Ukrainian drone strike ignites fire at major Russian oil refinery in Krasnodar
A drone strike overnight has ignited a fire at the Afipsky oil refinery in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai region, marking the third such attack on the facility in less than two months.
According to the Krasnodar Region Operational Headquarters, debris from a drone struck one of the refinery’s units, sparking a fire that spread across approximately 30 square metres. Emergency services responded to the blaze, Caliber.Az reports per Ukrainian media.
The Afipsky refinery is one of southern Russia's key oil processing facilities, with an annual capacity of 6.25 million tonnes. It plays a critical role in supplying diesel and petrol to the Russian military engaged in ongoing war in Ukraine.
This latest incident follows two earlier strikes by Ukrainian forces: one on August 28 and another on August 7.
