Ukrainian forces report wave of Russian drones in extensive night attack
Russia launched 119 strike drones against Ukraine overnight on June 17, including Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas types, as well as Parody decoy drones, Ukraine’s Armed Forces announced.
Air defences, including aviation units, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups, were involved in repelling the aerial assault.
Preliminary data as of 08:00 indicates that 97 drones were shot down or suppressed across northern, southern, and eastern regions of the country.
Authorities reported 20 impacts of strike drones at 11 locations, as well as debris from downed drones falling at six additional sites.
“The attack is ongoing, with several Russian UAVs still in the airspace. Follow safety rules!” the Armed Forces of Ukraine said.
