Ukrainian leader flags problems in Air Force operations across regions
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held his regular daily coordination call to review the situation in Kyiv and other regions of the country, as well as in communities located along the Russian border and near the front lines.
Zelenskyy shared the details of the meeting on his Telegram channel.
A key focus of the discussion was the performance of Ukraine’s Air Force.
“I consider the work of the Air Force in some regions of Ukraine to be unsatisfactory, and we discussed with the Air Force commander and the Minister of Defence what decisions must be immediately implemented to more effectively shoot down Shahed drones,” Zelenskyy said.
Participants also reported on efforts to restore the energy sector and provide assistance to the population. Particular attention was given to Kyiv, where more than 1,200 buildings remain without heating.
Officials were instructed to use digital tools to promptly identify the needs of residents and local communities in real time.
The head of Ukraine’s state railway company, Ukrzaliznytsia, briefed the meeting on the impact of Russian strikes on logistics infrastructure, noting a significant increase in attacks on rail facilities throughout January.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported on the deployment of personnel to operate support and warming centres, while the Ministry of Energy presented timelines for commissioning cogeneration facilities.
The prime minister also provided an update on the implementation of government assistance programs, including a heating support package program that is expected to be expanded.
