Ukrainian sources claim Geran-2 drone debris found near Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra PHOTO
Ukrainian sources reported that fragments of a “Geran-2” drone were discovered in the vicinity of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) released photographs of the debris, which allegedly include a visible serial number, according to UNIAN. Ukrainian authorities claim the drone was manufactured in Russia. At the time of publication, no additional details or independent verification had been provided.
Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defence stated that the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra had been struck by an American-made Patriot air defence missile. According to the ministry, one possible explanation for the alleged malfunction of the Patriot system was that Western countries had supplied Ukraine with missiles that had exceeded their expiration dates.
The Russian Ministry of Defence said: “According to confirmed data, the complex of buildings of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra was hit by a missile from the American Patriot anti-aircraft missile system. One of the reasons for the incorrect operation of this system may have been that Western countries supplied the Kyiv regime with missiles with expired service life.”
