Ukrainians to face new EU entry authorisation, fee from late 2026
Ukrainian citizens travelling to Europe will be required to obtain prior entry authorisation and pay a fee from the end of 2026, as the European Union introduces the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) for travellers from visa-free countries.
According to information published on the official ETIAS website, Ukrainians — who currently enjoy visa-free access to the EU for short stays — will need to apply online for authorisation before travelling, Caliber.Az reports.
Each applicant will be required to pay a €20 fee, and applications must be submitted individually, as family or group applications will not be accepted.
Once approved, the ETIAS authorisation will be valid for three years or until the traveller’s passport expires, whichever comes first. It will allow multiple short-term entries into 30 European countries, including all Schengen Area states as well as Cyprus, Bulgaria and Romania.
The application process will be conducted exclusively online, with payment made by bank card through the official ETIAS website.
