UN: Around 100,000 people left Tehran in first two days of conflict
Approximately 100,000 residents left Iran’s capital, Tehran, during the first two days of the current military escalation, according to data from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), cited by US media.
UNHCR spokesperson Babar Baloch said the agency had recorded a steady outflow of vehicles from the city since the start of the conflict. According to him, between 1,000 and 2,000 cars were leaving Tehran each day, with most people travelling northward.
Baloch noted that the latest available data does not show a sharp increase in people crossing international borders as a result of the conflict. However, he stressed that the situation remains unstable and continues to be closely monitored by the UN refugee agency.
