UN climate chief urges nations to deliver on environmental pledges
Simon Stiell, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, has called on countries to step up climate action and fulfill their international commitments.
He made the statement in a video message to participants at an event dedicated to World Environment Day, which is being held in Azerbaijan in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Caliber.Az reports via local media.
“Countries should fulfill their commitments to combat climate change. We must act together, and the negotiation process must be intensified,” the Executive Secretary emphasized.
The World Environment Day (WED) in Baku is being held under the motto, “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.”, bringing together participants to highlight environmental protection and climate action initiatives.
