The United Nations has recorded 21,965 civilian casualties in Ukraine since Russia started invading it on February 24, 2022.
Among them, 8,231 were killed and 13,734 were wounded, Caliber.Az quotes the report of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights as saying
The UN confirmed the deaths of 3,364 men, 2,173 women, 260 boys and 203 girls, the gender of 31 children and 1,900 adults has not yet been determined.
According to the organization, 17,619 victims (6,372 dead and 11,247 wounded) were in territory controlled by Ukraine at the time of the Russian invasion.
From March 1-12, the UN recorded 293 civilian Ukrainian casualties - 84 dead and 209 wounded.
The UN stressed that the real casualty figures are much higher because the information from some places where intense fighting was taking place was delayed and many reports have yet to be confirmed. This is the case in Mariupol, Lysychansk, Popasna and Severodonetsk, for example, where there are numerous civilian casualties.
