UN secretary general thanks Türkiye for efforts on grain deal
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has expressed gratitude to Türkiye for its efforts within the framework of the Black Sea Grain Initiative.
Guterres called for the continuation of the agreement, emphasising that its full implementation is crucial for the global food market, Anadolu reports.
As noted in the document, together these agreements contribute to a steady decline in global food prices.
The UN Secretary-General also sent a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin prior, in which he outlined his proposals for further implementation of the agreements on the supply of Russian and Ukrainian products - food and fertilisers - to the world markets.
In his message, the Secretary-General emphasised the importance of further implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding and "the urgent need to preserve the Black Sea Initiative."
Guterres also reiterated his commitment to further dialogue with all stakeholders and his readiness to discuss his proposals with Russia.
