United Nations Climate Change Conference COP28 kicks off in UAE Azerbaijani delegation attending the event
The 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) began on November 30 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan Umayra Taghiyeva told Azertag that the opening ceremony saw speeches from COP28 President, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technologies Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Executive Secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change Simon Stiell, Chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Jim Skea, and others.
The conference will run until December 12 and will cover topics such as clean energy transition, climate finance, nature-based solutions, social inclusion, as well as climate change mitigation, resilience and adaptation to climate risks.
A delegation from Azerbaijan is also participating in the conference.
