United States start to develop drone with stun gun to neutralize shooters

The intensity of mass killings in the US does not seem to be decreasing, prompting Axon to start developing a drone with a stun gun to neutralize shooters.

The drone will become part of a video surveillance and rapid response system that will allow the drone operator to neutralize the shooter within one minute, 3dnews.ru reports.

Axon has long supplied stun guns and special equipment to the American police. This experience will come in handy when creating a flying version of the stun gun in the form of a miniature drone. Like a regular shocker, the human neutralization system in the drone will release darts with wires that are connected to a high-voltage discharge system. When the darts pierce the body, a shock occurs, causing the person to convulse, lose consciousness, or, in rare cases, die.

The technical characteristics of the drone with the shocker are not yet known. In addition to a smaller version of the police stun gun, the drone will have an Axon surveillance camera on board. The drone control system will be included in the surveillance network of schools and enterprises. The kit will come with a training VR program for training operators to neutralize shooters. It is assumed that this combined approach will eventually allow the authorities to "stop mass killings in less than 60 seconds."

The project partners are Fusus, which is developing a video surveillance network, as well as DroneSense, which is working on a real-time drone control system. It can be assumed that the future in such projects will clearly be for AI - the algorithm will respond to a crisis faster than a person. It remains only to recall the timeless classic in the form of Robert Sheckley's story "Guardian Bird" and regret that drones with shockers will not solve the problem of shooters, although they will certainly be able to save many lives, and for this it is already worth working.
