US authorities send seized Russian Amadea yacht to Hawaii
The Amadea Yacht belonged to Russian business magnate and senator Suleiman Kerimov has entered the port of Honolulu (Hawaii, the US) under the American flag.
The US authorities, which won a lawsuit in the Republic of Fiji and confiscated the yacht worth 450 million Australian dollars ($311.8 million), "immediately sent it to Hawaii", according to Australia-based news service 9News.
The yacht was seized on April 14 after it entered the state's exclusive economic zone without permission.
At the same time, the senator’s assistant Aleksei Krasovsky said this yacht doesn’t belong to Kerimov.
“This information is false. Suleiman Kerimov has no yacht. An exhaustive list of his property is indicated in the declaration filed annually under current Russian legislation,” Krasovsky noted.
Earlier, information appeared in Russian and foreign media about the seizure of the Amadea Yacht in Fiji, which is said to belong to Kerimov, who is under Western sanctions. The registered owner of the yacht is Millemarin Investment company, whose lawyers said they have applied for temporary residence in Fiji.
