US concerned over Russian-Chinese nuclear cooperation
The United States Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Bonnie Jenkins has said that the US leadership is concerned over the interaction between Russia and China in the nuclear sphere.
Washington is following the discussions of Russia in the field of nuclear energy around the world and, in particular, in Africa, she said at a briefing on August 3, lenta.ru reports.
“We follow China's interest in nuclear energy. We have always been somehow concerned about some areas of this activity,” Jenkins emphasised.
The US official also noted that the White House advocates for the nuclear industry to follow the principles of non-proliferation, and security.
“We are concerned when we hear that China and Russia are cooperating on nuclear energy issues,” she said.
