US Congress unveils shocking evidence of COVID-19 origin in new report

A report by US lawmakers, following a two-year investigation, suggests that the COVID-19 virus likely originated in a laboratory in Wuhan, China, and spread due to a leak.

The findings were presented by the House Oversight Committee’s Coronavirus Subcommittee, which examined several key pieces of evidence supporting this theory, per Caliber.Az.

According to the report, the biological characteristics of the virus indicate that it was unlike anything found in nature. The authors argue that all COVID-19 cases resulted from a single introduction of the virus into humans, which contrasts with previous pandemics where the virus spread in multiple waves from various sources. They also noted that the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV), a major SARS virus research facility, had a history of inadequate biosecurity.

Researchers at the WIV were reported to have contracted a COVID-like virus as early as autumn 2019, months before the first confirmed cases appeared at the wildlife market. The report asserts that if there had been evidence supporting a natural origin, it would have already emerged, considering the extensive studies done on the virus.

This theory aligns with reports from The Wall Street Journal, which cited classified intelligence suggesting that a leak from a Chinese laboratory could have been the cause of the virus’s spread. This theory has been backed by the FBI, which called it a plausible explanation, although other US intelligence agencies have expressed doubts. Four agencies still support the theory that the virus originated in nature, while others remain undecided. In February 2023, White House spokesman John Kirby stated that the US government had not reached a consensus on how COVID-19 originated.

On the other hand, the World Health Organization (WHO) continues to favour the theory that the virus has a natural origin. The debate over the virus’s origins remains ongoing, with no definitive answers yet.

The COVID-19 pandemic, which began in late 2019, has had a devastating impact globally. As of December 2024, confirmed deaths from the virus have surpassed 7.1 million, though excess mortality data suggests the true number may be much higher.

The pandemic forced countries to implement widespread public health measures such as lockdowns and vaccination campaigns, which have helped reduce the severity of the disease in many regions. However, the global recovery continues to face challenges, such as the emergence of new variants and disparities in vaccine distribution.
