US forces claim downing Houthi drones, missiles in Yemen
In the past 24 hours, US forces successfully destroyed five Iranian-backed Houthi uncrewed aerial vehicles and two missile systems in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen.
These systems presented a clear and imminent threat to US and coalition forces, and merchant vessels in the region, Caliber.Az reports, citing the US Central Command (CENTCOM) X page.
These actions were taken to protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer and more secure for US, coalition, and merchant vessels.

Notably, in late August, American forces had previously destroyed a Houthi missile and drone, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to countering threats in the region.
Additionally, earlier incidents have included Houthi attacks on an oil tanker near the Yemeni city of Hodeidah, which created substantial risks of fuel spills and marine pollution. In response to this threat, US military forces had also taken action, destroying two Houthi vessels involved in the attack.
