US general to hold Cairo talks on Gaza security and humanitarian plan
Major General Jasper Jeffers, commander of the International Stabilisation Forces (ISF) in the Gaza Strip, is expected to travel to Egypt in the coming days for high-level talks with Egyptian officials, according to sources cited by Al Arabiya.
The visit to Cairo will centre on advancing a broader plan aimed at stabilising the situation in Gaza, with discussions set to address several key components of the proposed framework. These include the disarmament of Hamas, mechanisms to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian assistance, and oversight of reconstruction efforts across the enclave’s damaged infrastructure.
Security considerations are expected to feature prominently on the agenda, alongside efforts to coordinate the activities of international actors operating on the ground. The talks will also examine the structure and operational conditions of future monitoring and control mechanisms intended to function within Gaza.
In addition, the visit by the American military official is expected to include consultations on the humanitarian situation in the territory, with particular focus on the conditions faced by displaced populations in the region.
