US lifts sanctions on several Russian defence suppliers
The US Department of the Treasury has removed a number of foreign companies from its sanctions list that were supplying equipment to the Russian defence sector.
Cyprus-based Veles International Limited and its owner Dmitry Bugayenko have been delisted, although related Russian entities remain under sanctions, Caliber.Az reports, citing the US Treasury Department.
Sanctions were also lifted on Dubai-based 365 Days Freight Services FZCO and Türkiye’s Etasis, both involved in exporting equipment to Russia.
Additionally, Finnish company Hi-Tech Koneisto and its top executive, Evgenia Dremova, which supplied optoelectronic and laboratory equipment to Russian-sanctioned organisations, were removed from the sanctions list.
Since Russia’s large‑scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the US has imposed sweeping sanctions aimed at isolating Russia’s economy and degrading its military‑industrial capabilities by blocking Russian defence firms and key suppliers from accessing technology, finance and global markets to hinder its ability to sustain the war.
Sanctions also extend to third‑country intermediaries and supply networks that help Russia acquire components, equipment and technology needed for military production, reflecting Washington’s effort to disrupt global evasion routes and choke supply chains supporting Russia’s defence sector.
