US protests spread to Texas as "ICE Out of Austin" rally turns chaotic Video
On June 10, protesters gathered at the state capitol in Austin for an "ICE Out of Austin" demonstration, with over 500 participants splitting into multiple groups during the march.
Law enforcement responded with arrests, pepper spray, and flash bang grenades as tensions escalated, Caliber.Az reports per US newspaper.
Clashes with law enforcement also began in Dallas.
Note that on June 8-10, protests against ICE raids and U.S. immigration policies intensified, leading to mass arrests. In New York, police detained two dozen demonstrators outside Trump Tower.
San Francisco saw over 150 arrests after an anti-ICE protest turned violent, while Santa Ana police used tear gas to disperse crowds. Austin warned drivers of downtown pedestrian disruptions.
The unrest followed the June 6 arrest of labour leader David Huerta during an ICE raid in Los Angeles, sparking outrage. Over 30 solidarity protests erupted nationwide, with Los Angeles demonstrations continuing for a fourth day.
President Trump deployed 2,000 additional National Guard troops to California, totalling 4,000, alongside Marines.
