US's NATO envoy: Trump to not set conditions for Russia-Ukraine war
US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker said on September 19 that US President Donald Trump is not setting the conditions for resolving the Ukraine-Russia war but can act as a mediator to help both sides reach a peace deal.
“President Trump is going to continue to find leverage and find the conditions where he can bring both sides and mediate the resolution. He is not going to set the conditions [in the Ukraine-Russia war - ed.],” Whitaker told Mornings with Maria for Fox News, Caliber.Az reports.
“Both sides are going to have to agree to a peace deal, but let’s continue to work on this and pray that this resolves in the near future," he added.
Whitaker also described Trump as a “peacemaker” capable of pushing NATO allies and Europe to stop funding Russia.
On the topic of Poland’s defence measures, he noted that the practice of shooting down "dud" drones with expensive missiles is “inefficient and ineffective,” and said the US would continue working on solutions.
