Russia hits Philip Morris warehouses with ballistic missile, Zelenskyy says
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that since overnight into Friday, January 30, Russia has largely halted strikes on energy facilities across most regions of Ukraine, with the exception of the Donetsk region, where a single airstrike hit gas infrastructure.
In a message published on his Telegram channel, Zelenskyy noted that Moscow appears to be redirecting its attacks toward logistics sites and key transport hubs. He pointed out that in the Dnipropetrovsk region, one of Ukrainian Railways’ specialised railcars serving as a mobile power generation unit was damaged.
The president also reported continued drone attacks and air-delivered bombs in various parts of the country. In the Kharkiv region, a ballistic missile struck warehouses belonging to the US company Philip Morris, sparking a large fire. Additional shelling and strikes were recorded in Nikopol, Kherson, and in the border areas of Kharkiv, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions.
Zelenskyy emphasised that Ukraine is maintaining a “mirror” policy regarding energy infrastructure, refraining from targeting Russian energy facilities. He added that the US side had reached an agreement to pause attacks on energy sites for one week, and Ukraine is ready to follow the same approach, expecting close coordination with partners, especially the US.
