US State Department denies any relation to Armenian separatist’s Washington visit
The US State Department has commented on the visit to Washington by David Babayan, a self-declared "Foreign Minister of the separatist Nagorno-Karabakh".
“The United States does not recognise the self-proclaimed [unrecognised] Republic of Artsakh.’ The State Department has nothing to do with the visit [of Babayan]," APA reports, quoting a representative of the Department.
The same person said that matters related to the visa issuance to the separatist Babayan cannot be disclosed under US law.
“Therefore, we cannot comment on individual cases. Visa applications to visit the United States are processed based on all applicable laws, including the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) and related regulations," it said.
The Armenian Diaspora in the US has spread the information that David Babayan will visit Washington on September 19 and hold meetings.
