US, Syria discuss energy cooperation, investment opportunities
Syrian Energy Minister Mohammed al-Bashir and U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright met in Washington to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation in the energy sector and increasing American investment in Syria's infrastructure and energy projects.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed investment opportunities in Syria and explored ways to broaden the involvement of U.S. companies in projects aimed at rebuilding and developing the country's energy infrastructure, Caliber.Az reports per Syrian media.
Wright expressed support for the Syrian government's efforts to revitalise the energy sector and promote economic recovery. He highlighted the importance of encouraging American businesses to explore opportunities in the Syrian market and contribute to strategic development initiatives.
Al-Bashir said several U.S. companies have already begun operating in Syria, describing this as a sign of growing confidence in the country's investment environment. He noted that the Syrian government is working to attract further foreign investment by offering incentives and improving the regulatory framework to support the long-term success of development projects.
