US to install new engine in F-35 fighter jet by 2030

General Electric company has completed testing of the new XA100 engine for the US fifth-generation F-35 Lightning II fighter jet, which is being developed as part of the Adaptive Engine Transition Programme (AETP).
The XA100 tests were held in two stages in Ohio and Tennessee, Defense News reports.
Vice president for advanced combat engine programmes at General Electric Dave Tweedie said the new engine will be installed on aircraft before 2030.
