Azerbaijani president meets with heads of leading Chinese companies in Tianjin PHOTO
On August 31, in the Chinese city of Tianjin, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev held a series of meetings with executives of major Chinese companies.
The head of state met with Ni Zheng, Acting President and Chairman of China Energy Engineering Corporation Limited (Energy China). The sides expressed satisfaction with the productive cooperation between Azerbaijan — including SOCAR — and Energy China in the field of alternative and renewable energy, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Special emphasis was placed on the company’s participation in projects for the construction of solar power plants and offshore wind farms in Azerbaijan. Ni Zheng also underlined interest in new initiatives in the country, including projects on wastewater treatment, recycling and reuse, water resource management, as well as joint construction of photovoltaic panels on reservoirs.
President Ilham Aliyev also met with Xie Yi, Founder and Chairman of Sichuan Sunsync Photovoltaic Technology Co. The discussion focused on cooperation prospects, particularly the establishment in the near future of a modern enterprise for the production of solar panels in the Alat Free Economic Zone, in line with international technological standards.
It was noted that a significant portion of the output will be exported to global markets. Xie Yi highlighted Azerbaijan’s favorable investment climate and its strategic ties with China, stressing that these factors played a decisive role in the company’s choice to invest in the country.
In addition, the Azerbaijani leader met with Ju Peng, General Manager of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC). The sides exchanged views on cooperation in the fields of digital technologies, modernization of the national management system, development of the digital economy, strengthening national network and cybersecurity, and the application of modern data technologies.
President Aliyev also held a meeting with Sun Hailiang, Chairman of China Communications Construction Company (CCCC). Discussions focused on cooperation between Azerbaijan and CCCC, noting the favorable investment climate in Azerbaijan. The sides reviewed the development of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor and the company’s participation in the second phase of construction of the Baku International Sea Port.
The talks also touched on CCCC’s areas of activity, including the improvement of transport infrastructure, construction of metro stations, equipment production, and comprehensive development of urban transport. Sun Hailiang stated that the company will present conceptual proposals related to the cleaning and rehabilitation of lakes on the Absheron Peninsula.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on major projects aimed at further enhancing Azerbaijan’s transport and transit potential, which has turned the country into a key global transport hub.
