02 April 2026 09:31
The US Department of the Treasury has lifted sanctions on Venezuela’s sitting president, Delcy Rodríguez.
“We welcome the decision of President Donald Trump as a step toward normalising and strengthening relations between our countries. We hope this progress will lead to the removal of existing sanctions against our country and ensure the creation and implementation of an effective bilateral cooperation programme for the benefit of our peoples. We will continue moving forward in building a prosperous Venezuela for all!” she said on her Telegram channel.
Rodríguez had previously been placed under US sanctions for her role in undermining democracy in Venezuela.
