Uzbekistan, China set up new secretariat, joint trade initiatives Photo
Uzbekistan and China are taking steps to deepen cooperation in Central Asia, with the establishment of a new secretariat to coordinate agreements, monitor joint projects, and provide a permanent platform for dialogue between the region’s countries and the People’s Republic of China.
The law creating the secretariat was signed by the President of Uzbekistan and is based on the goals outlined in the Xi’an Declaration of May 19, 2023, Caliber.Az reports.
Officials said the provision will enable Uzbekistan to participate more actively in regional integration, strengthen economic, investment, infrastructure, transport, and logistics ties, and increase trade across Central Asia and with China.
In parallel, Uzbekistan and China announced plans to establish a joint warehouse and logistics base, along with an exhibition centre to facilitate the exchange of products.

The agreements were reached between the Tashkent Industrial Zones Management Directorate and the Shihezi National Economic and Technological Development Zone of China.
As part of the initiative, the two sides also signed a memorandum aimed at boosting mutual trade.
