Uzbekistan condemns Israeli airstrike on Doha in call with Qatari emir
Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has strongly condemned Israel’s recent airstrikes on Doha during a phone call with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, calling the attack a violation of international law and an unacceptable threat to Qatar’s sovereignty and security.
The leaders spoke on September 12, focusing on regional tensions and advancing strategic ties between Uzbekistan and Qatar. President Mirziyoyev criticised the missile strikes as actions that “violate independence and sovereignty and pose a threat to Qatar's security,” adding that they are “contrary to the Charter of the United Nations and the fundamental norms and principles of international law,” Caliber.Az reports via the Uzbekistan's president’s office.
He reaffirmed Uzbekistan’s position against the use of force in international relations and warned against further escalation in the Middle East. Mirziyoyev also expressed support for the emergency Arab-Islamic summit convened at Qatar’s initiative, wishing it success in addressing the growing regional crisis.
In response, the Qatari Emir expressed deep gratitude for Uzbekistan’s solidarity and support.
Beyond regional issues, the two leaders also discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation, including accelerating joint economic projects and enhancing political engagement between their countries.
