Venezuela demands UN halt “illegal aggression” against it PHOTO
Venezuela’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Samuel Moncada, demanded that the international organisation stop "aggressions" against the country in a meeting with UN General Assembly President Annalena Baerbock.
The announcement was made by Foreign Minister Yván Gil Pinto on his social media account, Caliber.Az reports.
During the talks, Moncada reiterated the Venezuelan government’s and people’s “firm call” for the immediate mobilisation of all UN bodies and mechanisms to “reject and end illegal aggressions” against Venezuela.

Officials in Caracas stated that they will continue active work on the international stage to defend the country’s sovereignty and promote Venezuela’s position among UN member states.
On January 3, 2026, U.S. forces executed a major raid involving airstrikes on Venezuelan military sites and a ground operation capturing President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores from their residence in Caracas. Maduro was transferred to New York to face long-standing U.S. federal charges on narco-terrorism and drug trafficking. President Donald Trump described it as a "surgical law enforcement operation" and announced the U.S. would temporarily oversee Venezuela for a "safe transition," citing access to oil reserves.
