Vnukovo airport reopens after closure due to drone attack on Moscow
The Moscow-based Vnukovo airport has resumed operations after it was closed for arrivals and departures following the drone attack on Moscow.
“Planes were diverted to other airports. For example, according to the online scoreboard, a flight from Dubai was diverted to Domodedovo,” TASS quotes the emergency services as saying.
They said the Vnukovo airport is now operating normally.
Moscow was again attacked by drones on the night of August 1.
Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said that several UAVs were shot down by air defence means while attempting to fly into the capital, one of them flew to Moscow City.
As a result, the facade of one of the towers at the level of the 21st floor was damaged. The glazing is broken on 150 square metres. Emergency services are working at the scene.
