Vučić: Kosovo's PM seeks confrontation between Serbia, NATO

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti seeks confrontation between Belgrade and NATO, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said.

Commenting on the situation in northern Kosovo, the president said that the tension in the region has not yet reached its peak, Anadolu reports.

Vučić is convinced that the prime minister of Kosovo intends to increase tensions in order not to fulfil the conditions of the agreement signed between Serbia and Kosovo, which provides for the establishment of the Community of Serbian Communities.

"Kurti wants war. He wants to drag the Serbs into the conflict. Kurti wants a confrontation between Serbia and NATO. Serbia should be much more careful from now on," he said.

The president assured that he will meet with Serbs in Kosovo on June 25 and that he categorically does not want to see them expelled.

Also, the Serbian leader commented on the attempt of an armed mutiny, undertaken on June 24 by Wagner PMC in Russia.

"Serbia has never been and will never be a country that supports a coup in any country. Governments change as a result of elections, by the will of the people. It cannot be otherwise. I don't want to comment too much on what happened in Russia. All I can say is that it will have serious and deep consequences," Vučić said.

Tensions in Kosovo arose after local authorities set up police checkpoints in Leposavic, Zvecan and Zubin Potok, which are predominantly populated by ethnic Serbs.

Clashes broke out between Kosovo Serbs and the security forces. The Kosovo Police reported that the municipal mayors who won the local elections on 23 April appointed security guards for the state buildings.
