White House blasts Nobel peace prize decision as “politics over peace”
The White House unleashed sharp criticism against the Norwegian Nobel Committee on October 10 after it awarded the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize to Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, with Communications Director Steven Cheung accusing the committee of prioritising "politics over peace."
“President Trump will continue making peace deals, ending wars, and saving lives. He has the heart of a humanitarian, and there will never be anyone like him who can move mountains with the sheer force of his will. The Nobel Committee proved they place politics over peace,” Cheung said in a statement on X, Caliber.Az reports.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee has awarded the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize to Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, recognising her “tireless work promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela” and her “struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy,” the committee announced earlier on October 10.
Nominations for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize closed on January 31, shortly after Trump returned to the White House. On October 9, Trump told reporters, “Obama got the prize, he didn’t even know what he got… they gave it to Obama for doing absolutely nothing but destroying our country.”
Several international leaders and groups have publicly endorsed U.S. President Donald Trump for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize, citing his involvement in recent peace initiatives.
