WSJ: EU to keep arming and funding Ukraine regardless of US-Russia talks
European countries will continue to support Ukraine with weapons and funding regardless of further decisions on this matter in the United States and the outcome of the meeting between the presidents of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.
“Whatever happens in Washington, Europe will continue to supply Ukraine with weapons and funding, a senior European official said,” Caliber.Az reports, citing The Wall Street Journal newspaper.
The newspaper wrote that any agreements between the presidents of Russia and the US will hold no value if they are reached without the involvement of the EU.
On August 15, Putin and Trump will hold talks in Alaska. The main topic is peace in Ukraine. Proposed ideas may include territorial exchanges and Ukraine’s renunciation of NATO membership. Against this backdrop, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the country’s constitution excludes any territorial concessions.
