WSJ: US demands Iran dismantle three nuclear sites, hand over enriched uranium
The United States is insisting that Iran dismantle three key nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, and transfer all enriched uranium to the U.S. Washington is also demanding that any agreement on Iran’s nuclear program be permanent, according to The Wall Street Journal.
In response, Tehran has proposed reducing uranium enrichment levels from 60% to 1.5% and suspending enrichment activities for seven years. A major sticking point remains sanctions: the U.S. seeks minimal easing as part of an agreement, while Iran demands significant relief from economic restrictions.
The third round of talks on Iran’s nuclear dossier is taking place on February 26 in Geneva. Iranian spokesperson Esmail Baghaei stated that the agenda has not changed: Tehran continues to insist on the lifting of sanctions and recognition of its right to peaceful nuclear energy use.
