Yemeni forces target US aircraft carrier in Red Sea for second time VIDEO
On March 18, the Yemeni Armed Forces announced on Monday that they had successfully targeted the American aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman in the northern Red Sea for the second time within 24 hours.
The extensive operation involved the use of ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones in a series of coordinated strikes that lasted several hours, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
Brigadier General Yahya Sare’e, spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces, confirmed that the attack had thwarted a planned hostile operation that was allegedly being prepared against Yemen. “As a result of the missile and drone strikes, enemy fighter jets were forced to return to their point of origin without achieving their objectives,” Sare’e stated in a public address.

The operation is part of Yemen’s broader defense strategy in response to what the Yemeni government describes as "criminal aggression" against the country. The Armed Forces made it clear that they would continue to escalate their response should foreign forces, particularly the U.S., increase their military actions against Yemen.
“Our commitment remains strong in confronting this aggression,” Sare’e added. “We will respond to any escalation with escalation and will continue to implement the directives of our leader, Sayyed Abdulmalik, including further escalating if necessary.”
The Yemeni Armed Forces also reiterated their ongoing maritime blockade against Israeli ships in the Red Sea and its operational zones. They stated that this blockade would remain in place until humanitarian aid is allowed to reach Gaza, further emphasizing their stance against Israeli involvement in the region.
Earlier reports from the Yemeni military indicated that the initial attack on the USS Harry S. Truman and its accompanying warships involved 18 ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as drones. This followed a series of aggressive airstrikes by American forces targeting several Yemeni provinces, including the capital Sana'a.
Brigadier General Sare’e condemned the U.S. airstrikes, which resulted in significant casualties among the Yemeni population. “The American enemy’s aggression, including more than 47 airstrikes on various provinces, has led to numerous massacres, martyring and injuring dozens,” Sare’e noted.
The Yemeni Armed Forces vowed that they would not hesitate to target all American warships in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea as a direct response to continued U.S. aggression.
Mohammed Abdulsalam, the spokesperson for Ansarullah, Yemen's Houthi movement, addressed claims made by former U.S. President Donald Trump. Trump asserted that U.S. actions in the region were aimed at protecting American assets and ensuring “navigational freedom.”
However, Abdulsalam denied these claims, calling them “false” and accusing Trump of misleading the international community. He reaffirmed that Yemen’s military operations were specifically aimed at Israeli-linked vessels and would remain focused on Israel until aid could reach Gaza.
