Zangezur corridor vital for Azerbaijan–Kazakhstan trade, says AmCham rep
For landlocked countries like Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, with access only to the Caspian Sea, the opening of the Zangezur Corridor is crucial for both exports and imports, Jeff Ehrlich, Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Kazakhstan, said.
During a briefing following a visit by a US business delegation to Azerbaijan, he emphasised that sustainable export routes are extremely important for the Central Asian business community, not only for raw materials but also for manufactured goods, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
“Kazakhstan is striving to develop its own production, particularly in the petrochemical sector. So this is not just about oil, but also petrochemical products, and in this context, having multiple transport routes is highly significant,” Ehrlich said.
He added that the corridor is equally important for imports as well.
“Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are both Caspian Sea countries, but they are landlocked. That is why the opening of the Zangezur Corridor is vital for such nations. This corridor is important not only for exporting their own goods but also for importing products from abroad. With this opportunity, they can look forward to a bright future,” he said.
