Zelenskyy announces ceasefire starting midnight May 6

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that a ceasefire will take effect from midnight on May 6, according to a statement published on his Telegram channel.

Zelenskyy said that Kyiv has not received any official communication outlining conditions for a cessation of hostilities.

“We believe that human life is incomparably more valuable than the celebration of any anniversary. In this regard, we are announcing a silence regime starting from 00:00 on the night of May 5 to 6,” he said.

He added that it is still possible to ensure the implementation of the ceasefire in the time remaining before it comes into force.

Zelenskyy also stated that Ukraine will act reciprocally from the specified moment.
