Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appointed Yaroslav Merezhko as deputy head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
The appointment was confirmed in a presidential decree, Caliber.Az reports.

Merezhko previously served in the SBU and, in 2023, took part in negotiations with the United States on non-proliferation and export control issues.
The day before, former head of the Volyn Regional Military Administration, Ivan Rudnytsky, was also appointed as another deputy head of the SBU.
On January 13, Ukraine's parliament confirmed the resignations of several high-ranking officials, including the head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), Vasyl Malyuk.
