Zelenskyy confirms strike on Metafrax plant deep inside Russia's Perm region
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine’s Security Service carried out a strike on a major industrial facility in the Perm region, deep inside Russian territory, approximately 1,700 kilometres from the Ukrainian border.
In a message published on his Telegram channel on May 23, 2026, Zelenskyy stated that the operation targeted what he described as an important military-linked enterprise.
“I am grateful to the Security Service of Ukraine for striking one of the important Russian military enterprises. The distance from our border is 1,700 kilometres; this is the Perm region. ‘Metafrax Chemicals’ is an important part of the Russian chemical industry. The company’s products supply dozens of other Russian military production facilities. This includes aviation equipment and drones, rocket engines, and explosives. Now the production process at the enterprise has been stopped,” he said.
