Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni discussed efforts toward ending the ongoing war in Ukraine, including the possibility of initiating peace talks with Russia.
President Zelenskyy shared that the phone conversation between the two leaders on May 20 explored several key issues, with a strong focus on the need for a ceasefire and establishing a viable platform for negotiations with Moscow, Caliber.Az reports.
“Good conversation with the Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. As always, great ideas,” Zelenskyy noted.
He noted that Italy is on the side of all efforts for genuine peace.
The sides also discussed the phone conversation the Ukrainian president had with US President Donald Trump and European leaders on May 19.
“We need honest diplomacy. Ukraine is ready, and we need to ensure that Russia is ready to really end the war,” he finalised.
