Zelenskyy notes 24-year pause in Ukraine presidential visits to Armenia
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has emphasised that his visit to Armenia is the first by a Ukrainian head of state in 24 years, calling it an important step toward restoring active dialogue between the two countries.
“Good meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. I thank him for the invitation to the European Political Community summit. This is the first visit of the President of Ukraine to Armenia in 24 years. It is important that we are restoring active dialogue between our countries,” Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram.
He added that the two sides discussed the regional situation, as well as security issues and existing threats, noting that he also informed Pashinyan about diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving real peace.
The Ukrainian president said economic cooperation was also on the agenda, proposing the revival of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on economic cooperation and suggesting its next meeting be held in Kyiv this year.
