Zelenskyy: Possible visit by Trump envoys more important for US than Ukraine
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that a potential visit to Ukraine by US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner would be more important for the American side than for Kyiv itself.
In an interview with Fakty ICTV, Zelenskyy downplayed the significance of the possible trip, noting that Ukraine is already in contact with both figures and does not view the visit as essential from its own perspective.
He suggested that their travel to Moscow without also visiting Kyiv would be seen as inappropriate, while acknowledging logistical challenges involved in arranging visits to Ukraine.
Zelenskyy also said that he remains open to meeting US representatives in any country, stressing that location is not a priority compared to achieving results. He added that communication with Trump’s team is continuing by phone, and that they have expressed interest in further dialogue and negotiations.
According to the president, Ukraine is willing to hold meetings in any format and location as long as they are productive, but he said the key obstacle to progress remains Russia’s unwillingness to end the war.
