Zelenskyy receives prestigious European award
Ukraine’s President of Volodymyr Zelenskyy was awarded the prestigious European Charlemagne Prize. Since he cannot receive the award directly, refugees from Ukraine had to do it on his behalf.
In the future, the award will be delivered to Kyiv, according to Bild.
The Charlemagne Prize honors exceptional work performed in the service of European unity. According to its bylaws, it is given to public figures or bodies distinguished by their outstanding work toward European unity or cooperation between its states since 1950.
The very first receivers of the award were former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and the first German Chancellor Konrad Adenauer.
It was also awarded to former German Chancellor Angela Merkel and current French President Emmanuel Macron.
