Zelenskyy reveals what Ukraine discussed with US, Russia in UAE PHOTO
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that the Ukrainian delegation has held its first trilateral talks in a long time involving the United States and Russia aimed at finding ways to end the war.
“We discussed a wide range of important issues, primarily military matters necessary to end the war. We also talked about complex political issues that remain unresolved,” Zelenskyy wrote on his Telegram channel, per Caliber.Az.
“We analysed the key positions of the parties and defined the framework for further diplomatic work. We are preparing for new trilateral meetings this week,” he added.
The talks were held in Abu Dhabi, UAE, on January 23–24, 2026, marking the first official three-party discussions of this kind since Russia’s full-scale invasion began in February 2022 — with representatives of Ukraine, the U.S., and Russia meeting at a technical/diplomatic level.
Ukraine, the United States and Russia described the dialogue as “constructive” and “positive,” focusing on possible parameters for ending the war and reporting back to their capitals for further instructions.
The talks were part of a U.S.-led effort to find a diplomatic way forward in the nearly four-year conflict, and involved U.S. special envoys alongside Ukrainian and Russian officials.
No final agreement was reached during the first round. Key sticking points — particularly related to territorial issues such as Russia’s demands on control over regions like Donbas — remain unresolved.
