Zelenskyy: Ukraine ready for ceasefire at Easter
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that Kyiv is prepared to take reciprocal steps in response to Russia’s actions, signalling openness to a ceasefire during the upcoming Orthodox Easter period.
In a message published on his Telegram channel, Zelenskyy emphasised that Ukraine had already proposed a halt to hostilities for the duration of the Easter holidays and remains ready to act accordingly.
“People need an Easter holiday without threats and a real step toward peace, and Russia has a chance not to resume strikes after Easter,” Zelenskyy noted.
The statement by Volodymyr Zelenskyy comes amid a unilateral ceasefire announcement by Russian President Vladimir Putin ahead of Orthodox Easter. According to the Kremlin, the temporary halt in hostilities is set to run from April 11 to April 12, with Russian forces instructed to suspend combat operations while remaining on alert for potential violations.
