Zelenskyy: Ukraine, Sweden preparing Gripen jet cooperation
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on May 28 that Ukraine and Sweden are preparing a major new defence package, including steps related to Gripen fighter jets aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s combat aviation capabilities.
In a post on X during a working visit to Sweden, Zelenskyy said meetings were scheduled with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and representatives of Sweden’s defence industry, Caliber.Az reports.
He added that discussions would include Sweden’s leadership and defence sector representatives.

“Meetings are scheduled today with Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, and representatives of the Swedish defense industry will also be present in the delegation format,” he said.
Zelenskyy also thanked Sweden for its continued support for Ukraine and described bilateral cooperation as strong and practical.
“Thank you, Swedish Prime Minister, for ensuring that our relations – between Ukraine and Sweden – are always substantive, and that our cooperation is strong,” he wrote.
“I am grateful to the people and government of Sweden, and personally to Swedish PM Ulf Kristersson, for supporting Ukraine, for their principled stance, and for their readiness to bring a just peace closer through real steps. We continue and expand our cooperation.”
